Lalamela Tatamela

Background

Born and raised in the city of Ul’dah, Lalamela Tatamela read all the books he could get his hands on. However, the lalafell had always aspired to see the world first-hand and had dreams of travelling the realm.Lalamela lost his parents, Lalabebo and Memela, in the Calamity at the age of sixteen summers. In the chaos of that day, some brass blades took it upon themselves to loot Mela's home, and took the lives of his parents when they tried to intervene while the terrified lalafell hid. He can’t remember much of this, as the trauma of the experience wiped his memory of the event. After that horrid day, Lalamela decided to study conjury at Stillglade Fane in Gridania as he believed having the ability to heal would stop him losing a loved one ever again. However, it took a considerable length of time for the lalafell to even grasp the simplest of conjury as he was in a period of grief and mourning. After he had learnt what he considered a decent amount, Lalamela left Gridania as he couldn't stand the prejudice against duskwights, keepers, and Ala Mhigan refugees there under the guise of it being 'the will of the elementals'. Lalamela then joined a mercenary company where he was soon to meet someone who would change his life forever.Due to his trauma, Lalamela used to have frequent nightmares and therefore always looked tired and had the tendency to doze off in places he really shouldn’t have. He also suffered frequent panic attacks. These days, however, he's doing a lot better, thanks to the care and love from those surrounding him.Nowadays, the 23 year old Lalafell and long-time friend Bernard Jeulerand run their own mercenary company, Carnation Corporation, where Lalamela runs the infirmary and does his best to help those around him. The company also runs their own bar and boutique, known as The Navigators Garden.

Personality + Appearance

Hair: His dark brown hair varies in length depending on if he's cut it recently or not. Currently long (twin bun style).Eyes: A warm, deep brown.Height: 3 Fulms 2 Ilms.Voice: Lalamela's voice is similar to the Lindworm from the Netflix show 'Hilda'. Example here.Distinguishing Features: Two light reddish marks under both of his eyes. A dusting of freckles across his cheeks. Light blush.Common Accessories: Never, ever seen without his malachite earrings, which were one of the final gifts his parents gave him.Lalamela is a transgender man, but due to the lack of dimorphism in Lalafell, he's not taking any sort of substance to transition.

Talents: Avid reader and can read even the thickest tome in no time. Has a penchant for art and regularly fills sketchbooks with drawings. Insomniac: Due to the trauma of losing his parents in the Calamity, Mela suffered frequent nightmares and, as a result, often dozed off in random places. This has been remedied to an extent, but occasionally he’ll still fall asleep somewhere he really shouldn’t.Doodler: Mela absolutely adores reading, and has a fervent fondness for fauna and flora. He can sometimes be found nose deep in a notebook sketching some form of creature.Out and About: Mela has an immense sense of wanderlust and loves seeing new things and meeting new people. Relationships (wip)

Fenrir

Fenrir is Lalamelas pet wolf. The lalafell rescued the canine when he was but a puppy, found huddled near the body of his deceased mother. Naming him after the fabled beast of Snowcloak, Mela has cared for Fenrir ever since. Fenrir, while loyal to the lalafell, oft gets up to mischief much to Melas dismay. However, despite his... appearance, Mela thinks he's the cutest thing on the star. Ever since the wolf has been fully grown, Mela also uses him for transportive purposes. He's the perfect size for Mela to ride around on.

WoL-VERSE MELA

Mela in the universe in which he is the Warrior of Light isn't much different from his ordinary self. His backstory remains pretty much the same, except he went on to join the Scions rather than Carnation Corp. His time as the WoL has altered him slightly, however, in his personality. He is a little more assertive and confident, but is regularly gripped with fear and guilt over the loss of certain allies over the course of his adventures. Despite it all, he still holds fast to the shining idea of hope and love.

Asklepios

The ancient that Lalamela is a shard of, Asklepios was a favoured student of Halmarut and spent his days studying in Akadaemia. The man was responsible for the conception of many medicinal herbs that are still used to this day. Gentle and kind but with a mischievous streak, Asklepios spent his downtime scheming with his friend Orpheus on how to inconvenience and irritate Hades to the fullest degree. One such scheme involved having one of Orpheus's new creations, a morbol, breathe into Hades's office.In the universe in which Lalamela is the WoL, Asklepios eventually rose to the seat of Azem, as his gentle nature and penchant for medicine made him ideal for travelling the realm and helping others.You can read more about Asklepios here.
